Corfu is a beautiful green island, which enjoys a mild Mediterranean climate. Corfu is a very popular tourist destination. Up until the early 20th century, it was mainly visited by the European royals and elites, including Empress Elisabeth of Austria. It is still very popular with the global elite and homeowners on the island include members of the Qatar royal family, the Rothschild family, and a number of European and Hollywood stars!

Corfu is very well-known for its long tradition and rich culture which is unlike any other Greek island. In 2007, the city's old city was designated for the UNESCO World Heritage List.

British naturalist and author Gerald Durrell wrote three well-loved books about his 1935–1940 childhood on Corfu: “My Family and Other Animals”; “Birds, Beasts and Relatives”; and “The Garden of the Gods”. British TV Channel ITV has recently filmed 3 seasons of the very popular series ‘The Durrells’ on the island! In the past a lot of movies have been filmed on different places on Corfu, thanks to the magnificent scenery.
